FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Fergy & Friends Professional K9 Coaching

Do sessions expire?

Yes. All sessions expire 1 year from the date of purchase.
This ensures your training plan stays relevant and your dog continues progressing.

What is your refund policy?

We do not offer refunds.
However, we are happy to transfer your remaining credit to another service or another dog in your household if appropriate.

Are payments due before sessions?

Yes. All payments must be made 24hrs prior to your session.
Payment confirms your booking and reserves your appointment time.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes — payment plans may be available for certain packages.
Just reach out and we can discuss options.

Do you work with reactive or aggressive dogs?

Absolutely.
Reactivity and behaviour concerns are my specialty. Your dog will always be supported at their comfort level, never judged or pushed too quickly.

My dog bit a human or another dog. Can you help?

Yes — as long as we can work safely and you’re committed to following management and safety protocols.
Biting is communication, not “badness,” and often involves fear, pain, stress, or past experiences.

We start with a Behaviour Assessment to fully understand the situation and create a safe, realistic plan forward.

Do you offer in-home sessions?

Yes, depending on your location.
Travel fees may apply for out-of-area visits.

Are assessments required before training?

Yes.
A 90-minute Behaviour Assessment is required before beginning any private training program so I can properly understand your dog and set you up for success.

What age can puppies start training?

Puppies can begin as early as 8 weeks, as long as they are healthy and cleared by your veterinarian.

Do you use prong collars, shock collars, or aversive tools?

No.
Training is always force-free, fear-free, and relationship-based.
I use only science-backed, humane methods focused on building trust and confidence.

What does “force-free” training mean?

Force-free means:

  • No fear
  • No pain
  • No intimidation
  • No physical corrections
  • No aversive equipment

Instead, training focuses on positive reinforcement, clear communication, emotional safety, and supporting dogs as individuals.
This approach builds confidence, reduces fear, and strengthens the bond between you and your dog.

Do you offer virtual training?

Yes — virtual sessions are available for puppies, coaching-based support, and certain behaviour concerns.

What areas do you serve?

Spruce Grove • Stony Plain • Parkland County • Edmonton
Travel outside these areas may include a small fee.

What is Mantrailing? Can reactive dogs participate?

Mantrailing is a scent-based activity where dogs follow a specific person’s scent trail — fantastic for confidence, focus, and enrichment.
Reactive dogs can absolutely participate.
Dogs work one at a time with no dog-to-dog interaction.

What experience and credentials do you have?

I have extensive hands-on experience working with dogs of all ages, breeds, and behaviour backgrounds.
My specialties include:

  • Reactivity & fear-based behaviour
  • Puppy foundations
  • Multi-dog household dynamics
  • Behaviour modification
  • Scentwork & Mantrailing

I am a:
